Biography:
A collaborative work and a multidisciplinary project, Headscan is a shared vision of Claude Charnier and Christian Pomerleau. Intended as a synthesis of styles that embody observations and reflections of human behavior, cultural evolution and the impact of information technologies on modern society.

Fusing futuristic dancefloor music with dark cinematographic soundscapes, Headscan’s sound meshes these elements into a smooth, hypnotic sound. The group combines the best elements of trance and electro-industrial resulting in a sound that is fresh and exciting, while holding true to its predecessors in electronic music.

Headscan have been active in Montreal’s local alternative music scene, particularly within the techno industrial outfit Insurgent. Their first release, “Shaper & Mechanist”, came in 2001 in the form of a concept album. Based on work of novelist Bruce Sterling, the album borrows its title from a Sterling novel of the same name.

In 2005 Headscan followed up with their second  album, “Pattern Recognition”. In 2008 the band played at the Kinetik Festival, and their single “Lolife” was included on a compilation CD, KINETIK FESTIVAL VOLUME 2.
